Biology essays discuss various life processes observed all around us. Thus, it is wide in its scope. The type of the essay may also vary, depending on the topic. A student can be assigned an essay on controversial research topics such as stem cell research or human cloning, or a cause and effect essay tackling the problem of environmental pollution or radiation exposure in humans and animals. Below are helpful tips in writing biology essays:
· Read the question carefully and analyse what it requires you to discuss. Answer only the question that is asked, and make sure to tackle all parts of it. If you are given the choice to answer only a certain part, choose carefully the one that you are most familiar with or that you can easily find references for.
· Make an outline of your answer to make your arguments are structured logically and the reader can follow your discussion well. Take careful note of the verbs used in the instructions and make sure to follow these carefully.
· Take the time to define and or explain important terms you use. Use jargon and high-level vocabulary if you must but do so in context.
· If you have to hand in your biology essays in a handwritten format, write legibly. You will not want to make a bad impression on or confuse your teacher by writing with a lousy penmanship. Use a good pen with a dark black ink. Do not write on the back of the page; instead, write on another one if your answer exceeds one page. If you are submitting a printed version, make sure to follow the format given by your teacher.
· Tackle the detail that is on the subject and make your discussion to the point. Include the obvious and answer the question thoroughly.
